German Vocabulary Book
The German Vocabulary Book is a topic-based vocabulary reference: the German wordstock organised by theme — the home, the body, food, travel, work, nature, and the rest of a life — so a learner can find, learn, and review the words of any subject in one place.
Its organisation is its method. Words are not learned well in alphabetical isolation; they are learned in families, beside the words they live with, and this book is built as a set of neighbourhoods: each topic gathers its nouns with their genders, its verbs, its adjectives and phrases, ready to be studied as a set and used as a set.
It is written for learners at every level who need words on demand: students preparing a topic for class or examination, writers and speakers who know what they want to say but not yet in German, and self-teachers building their vocabulary systematically, theme by theme.

A topic-based vocabulary book is the dictionary reorganised for learning. Where an alphabetical dictionary serves a single look-up, the themed arrangement serves study: whole areas of life can be absorbed together, compared, and revised together, so the words reinforce one another in memory. For examination candidates — whose speaking and writing tests are themselves organised by topic — it matches the shape of the assessment. For readers it works as a companion: the chapter of the story book, the unit of the course, and the theme of this reference reinforce one another. For travellers and new residents it is a survival tool arranged by errand: the words for the doctor, the words for the landlord, the words for the car. A vocabulary book of this kind is rarely read cover to cover; it is lived with, opened daily, and known by its tabs and marks within a year.

About This Book
Every learner’s vocabulary grows untidily — a word here, a phrase there — until a reference book imposes the map. This German vocabulary book is that map: the language’s everyday wordstock sorted into the topics of life, presented for study rather than mere consultation, and sized to be the vocabulary volume a learner keeps within reach for years.
What Learners Will Find
Vocabulary by Topic
Theme by theme — family and home, body and health, food and drink, clothes, school and work, town and transport, nature and weather, leisure and technology — each section a complete little world of the words that belong together, learned together.
Words with Their Grammar Attached
Nouns arrive with gender and plural, verbs with their common forms and partners, so nothing is learned in the naked form that German never actually uses. The book teaches words the way the language stores them: connected.
Phrases Around the Words
Themed vocabulary is given in usable phrases and example collocations, not bare lists alone — because the point of knowing the word for an appointment is being able to make one, cancel one, and apologise for one.
Key Features
The topic architecture is the feature: vocabulary findable by need and learnable by theme, which is how both memory and examinations are organised. The completeness within themes is the second — a topic, once studied here, is studied whole.
Who This Book Is For
It is for students from A1 to B2 building vocabulary systematically, examination candidates revising by topic, teachers assembling vocabulary lists and tests, translators and writers at the desk, and new residents of German-speaking countries equipping themselves errand by errand.
How to Use This Book
Study one theme at a time, actively: cover, recall, write sentences with the words, and speak them. Keep the book beside your reader and course book — when a topic appears there, master it here. Review themes on a widening cycle, and let real life set the syllabus: next week’s appointment, journey, or purchase chooses this week’s theme.
